Fall Fees and Payment Plan

At registration a non-refundable $250 tryout fee as well as a season deposit will be charged up front. If you opt in for a payment plan you will be charged equal portions of your remaining balance on September 1, October 1, November 1, as well as December 1. Late payments, denied credit and debit card charges, or unpaid balances during the season may result in the player being suspended from the ice. In addition, under the rules and regulations outlined by AHAI, which is the governing body of amateur hockey in Illinois, the Ice Dogs Hockey Association may file for Financial Suspension. This will suspend the player involved for nonpayment within any AHAI-sanctioned hockey club. If for any reason you are having issues with payment and need assistance with updating your account we are here to help. We realize this is a new system we are all learning together.

If a player chooses to leave the Ice Dogs program after team placements have been determined, this deposit is non-refundable. In the event that a player is cut from our program, this season's deposit is fully refunded.

Our listed pricing includes all expenses and you will not be charged for any additional dues a la carte. The only cost you will incur is your player's "slush fund" which varies team to team. Unlike some organizations we are up front about all costs for the season and are always working to stay competitively priced with our neighboring programs.

WHAT IS PSL?

Let's start with NIHL - Northern Illinois Hockey League

NIHL was the first hockey league in Illinois and has been a big part of the growth and development in Illinois hockey. There are 5 main levels of play in NIHL.

PSL is the Premier Select League and is the highest level of play in NIHL, down from PSL is the following in order of competition level:

  • Elite
  • Gold
  • Silver
  • Bronze

At the beginning of the season organizations along with their coaches, decide how competitive their teams will be and enter them into one of the listed levels. Then, NIHL forms divisions for the seeding round and among other things considers location during the first 6 to 8 games. After the seeding round is over the NIHL Board of Directors meet to look at the standings and then select teams to play at the different levels and the divisions within the levels. NIHL's biggest goal is to make the levels and divisions as competitive as possible. As you can imagine, this is a tough process but NIHL does a great job keeping the divisions even.
